Description:Gyki 52466 hydrochloride is an ATP-sensitive potassium channel inhibitor that prevents the opening of these channels in response to a depolarizing stimulus, thereby inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters. Gyki 52466 hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit neuronal uptake and increase extracellular glutamate concentrations in the brain. This drug has also been shown to affect locomotor activity and induce seizures in wild-type mice, while having no effect on knockout mice with no ion channel expression. Gyki 52466 hydrochloride has also been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro.
