It has been shown to produce analgesia in chronic pain models and to have a pharmacokinetic profile that is favorable for the development of novel analgesic drugs. Methyl 3-carbamimidoylbenzoate HCl does not bind to other receptors, such as opioid, serotonin, or dopamine receptors. Methyl 3-carbamimidoylbenzoate HCl binds to and activates the CB2 receptor by mimicking endogenous cannabinoids such as anandamide and 2-AG. This compound is also metabolized by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL).
