Description:

Carbonylhydrido(tetrahydroborato)[bis(2-diphenylphosphinoethyl)amino]ruthenium(II) is a ruthenium catalyst that can be used for the asymmetric hydrogenation of a variety of carbonyl compounds. It is soluble in organic solvents and has been shown to reduce oxalates, esters, and malonates. The catalyst can also be used as an effective dehydrogenation agent for organic synthesis. Carbonylhydrido(tetrahydroborato)[bis(2-diphenylphosphinoethyl)amino]ruthenium(II) was prepared by the reaction of methanol with chloride, ammonium chloride, and ethanol in the presence of ruthenium metal. It is insoluble in water.
