Product Information
- 2-thiophenecarboxamide, 5-bromo-N-cyclopropyl-
5-Bromo-N-cyclopropyl-2-thiophenecarboxamide is a drug that was designed to optimize the activity of pyrimidine analogues used to treat malaria. The compound is highly selective for the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) and has been shown to be active against the erythrocytic stages of Plasmodium falciparum, including chloroquine-resistant strains. 5-Bromo-N-cyclopropyl-2-thiophenecarboxamide does not interfere with human DNA synthesis or RNA transcription and has no adverse effects on animal liver function. This drug has potential as a treatment for malaria and other diseases caused by DHODH deficiency, such as cancer and hereditary tyrosinemia type I.
