trans-Dibromobis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(II) is a palladium catalyst for the carbonylation of allylic alcohols. It has been used in the synthesis of substituted phenols and quinone compounds. The compound is prepared by treating triphenylphosphine with bromine in acetonitrile to yield a black precipitate. The compound has square planar geometry and a molecular weight of 526.5 g/mol. Solvents such as acetonitrile, ethanol, or tetrahydrofuran can be used to prepare this compound.
