It has been shown to be effective against retroflexus and Nitro viruses, as well as antiviral agents and vaccines. 4-Bromo-2,3-dihydropyridazin-3-one has also been used in the synthesis of furanones, a class of antibiotics that are active against gram positive bacteria. This compound is often used as a starting material for the synthesis of other heterocycles.
