4',5'-Dihydrobergapten is a furocoumarin that is used as an antifungal agent. It inhibits chitinase, which is needed for the growth of fungi, by binding to the enzyme and preventing its function. 4',5'-Dihydrobergapten has been shown to be soluble in water and bind to polyvinylpyrrolidone. This chemical has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on human skin cells and may also have antiviral properties. It has not been tested for its effects on humans but can be toxic if ingested or absorbed into the body through the skin.
