Description

Voacangine is a selective and potent antagonist of TRPV1 and TRPM8, and an agonist of TRPA1, with an EC50 value of 8 μM for TRPA1. Voacangine inhibits the binding of menthol to TRPM8 with an IC50 value of 9 μM, and icilin with an IC50 value of 7 μM. Voacangine selectively eliminates chemical agonist-induced activation of TRPM8, but not cold-induced activation. Voacangine is extracted from the root bark of the American Sorbus Voacanga africana.
