(-)-Cicloheximida é um composto que ocorre naturalmente e que serve como um importante inibidor da síntese de proteínas em células eucarióticas. É derivado da bactéria Streptomyces griseus e é utilizado principalmente em pesquisas para estudar a expressão gênica e a função das proteínas. A substância é caracterizada por sua capacidade de inibir a fase de elongação da tradução, interferindo na maquinaria ribossômica, direcionando-se especificamente à subunidade ribossômica 60S.
