Descrição:3,3-Diethyl-1H-pyridine-2,4-dione (DHPD) is a quinone that can be used for wastewater treatment. It is also a metabolic precursor of dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor drugs and has been shown to inhibit the production of cytokines in animal models. DHPD has been shown to have effects on autoimmune diseases and may be useful for the treatment of metal hydroxides. This compound has been shown to bind with caffeine and other alkaloids. The binding affinity was found to depend on the number of nitrogen atoms present in the molecule. This method has been used to identify new antagonists of acetylcholine receptors.
