2-Azepan-1-yl-2-phenyl-ethylamine (AZPEE) is a potent inhibitor of glycine transporters. AZPEE inhibits the uptake of glycine in the brain, thereby increasing its concentration and promoting the release of dopamine. This compound has been shown to have a high affinity for glycine transporters in cells and animal models. AZPEE binds to the glycine transporter with an IC50 value of 2 μM. It also exhibits potent inhibitory effects on piperidine uptake and sulfonamide binding in vitro. In addition, AZPEE is a competitive inhibitor for the glycine transporter and has been shown to be more potent than other inhibitors such as piperidine or sulfonamides at inhibiting the uptake of glycine in rat brain synaptosomes.
