It is used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system. Methylprednisolone can be administered orally or as an injection. Methylprednisolone may be given together with another drug called dexamethasone, which has synergistic effects. These drugs have been shown to cause death in animals with certain types of tumours. This drug also causes a microsporum infection (a type of fungus) on the skin to grow more rapidly when it is applied topically, resulting in a larger diameter section than untreated areas.
