This inhibition causes oxidative damage to the cell and leads to cell death. The cytotoxic activity of 8MIAP has been investigated using several different experimental models, including epimastigotes, n-oxide, and analogues. The inhibitory dose for 8MIAP is between 1 and 10 μM. Structurally related drugs such as benzo[a]pyrene have also been shown to be cytotoxic in vitro and in vivo.END>
