Pentafluoronitrosobenzene is a perfluorinated compound that can be used as a precursor in the synthesis of perfluorinated chemicals. It has been shown to react with phosphite and yield pentafluoro nitrophenol, which can be further oxidized to pentafluoro nitrobenzoate. Pentafluoronitrosobenzene reacts with trichloroacetic acid or trichloroacetic anhydride to produce perfluoro benzoic acid, which can then be converted into other perfluorinated compounds. The kinetic study of this reaction showed that the rate-limiting step is the hydrogen abstraction from the benzene ring by chloride ion.
The reactions of pentafluoronitrosobenzene are important for many chemical syntheses and have been studied extensively, including its reaction mechanism. This compound is also known for its use in covid-19 pand
