Hedrick and coworkers at Eli Lilly and Company as a potential drug for the treatment of schizophrenia. The chemical structure of 2,4-dioxolane consists of two oxetanes linked together with an ether bond. In this molecule both hydroxyl groups are on the same side of the carbon chain.
