7H-Purine-6,8-diol is a substrate that binds to selenium compounds. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of hydroxide solution and the kinetic constants for this process have been determined. 7H-Purine-6,8-diol also has an observed deuterium isotope effect. The binding affinity for the substrate is not affected by the presence of sodium hydroxide solution or liquid chromatography method. The enzyme activity is inhibited by deuterium isotope and growth factor, with incubated mammalian cells being the most sensitive to inhibition. This product can be used in the treatment of cancerous cells and may also be effective in treating other diseases such as diabetes.
