2',3',5'-Tri-O-acetylcytidine HCl is a modified nucleoside that has been shown to have anticancer activity. The cytotoxic effect of 2',3',5'-tri-O-acetylcytidine HCl is mediated by its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis, which leads to cell death. This agent also inhibits viral replication and may be useful in the treatment of herpes virus infections. 2',3',5'-tri-O-acetylcytidine HCl is a stable nucleoside analog that can be used as an activator for polyphosphate polymerase or as a building block for the preparation of phosphoramidites, which are intermediates in the synthesis of oligonucleotide sequences.
