This compound has been shown to have antifungal properties, inhibiting the growth of Talaromyces and Curvularia. 2-Oxo-1,3-oxazolidine-4-carboxylic acid has also been shown to be effective against Achromobacter and Racemizea species and to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The conformation of this molecule is an acidic pseudopeptide with a sulfur atom at C2.
