Descrição:4-Chloro-6,7-dimethoxy-quinoline-3-carbonitrile is a reagent that can be used to synthesize aminomethylpyridones. The synthesis of these compounds is carried out by the reaction of 4-chloro-6,7-dimethoxy quinoline with 2 equivalents of methyl 4-(bromomethyl)pyridine in the presence of a base such as sodium hydride. This compound is also used as a catalyst for the synthesis of 1,4,5,8-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives and some other heterocycles. The microwave technique has been shown to be an effective way to carry out this reaction with high yields. Synthesis reactions are optimized by varying the temperature and stoichiometry.
