Anisol, auch bekannt als Methoxybenzen, ist ein aromatisches Ether, das durch das Vorhandensein einer Methoxygruppe (-OCH₃), die an einen Benzolring gebunden ist, gekennzeichnet ist. Es ist eine farblose Flüssigkeit mit einem süßen, angenehmen Geruch, der an Anis erinnert, wovon auch der Name abgeleitet ist. Anisol hat einen relativ niedrigen Siedepunkt und ist in organischen Lösungsmitteln wie Ethanol und Ether löslich, hat jedoch eine begrenzte Löslichkeit in Wasser. Seine chemische Formel ist C₇H₈O und es hat ein Molekulargewicht von etwa 108,14 g/mol. Anisol wird in verschiedenen Anwendungen eingesetzt, unter anderem als Lösungsmittel, in der Synthese von Arzneimitteln und als Aromastoff in der Lebensmittelindustrie. Anisole is a redox potential chemical that is used as an antioxidant and as a co-solvent. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as sodium salts, transport properties, absorption enhancer, and toll-like receptor. Anisole also has been shown to have a reaction with a diazonium salt and trifluoroacetic acid, which can lead to the formation of aniline.
