The compound was discovered by screening a library of compounds for conformational specificity and found to be selective for the active conformation of B-Raf. This drug has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Molecular modeling studies have shown that this inhibitor has a high binding affinity for the active conformation of B-Raf.
