1,2-Ethandiamin, N,N'-dimethyl-, auch bekannt als N,N'-Dimethyl-Ethylenediamin, ist eine organische Verbindung, die durch ihre aminischen funktionellen Gruppen gekennzeichnet ist. Sie weist zwei Amin (-NH2)-Gruppen auf, die an einem zweikohlenstoffhaltigen Ethylen-Rückgrat befestigt sind, wobei zwei Methylgruppen die Wasserstoffatome der Amin-Gruppen substituieren. Diese Verbindung ist typischerweise eine farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit mit einem starken Amingeruch. It is also used as a solid catalyst in hydrogenation reactions. The FTIR spectroscopy of N,N'-dimethylethanediamine shows signals at 1590 cm-1 for the C=O stretching vibration, which indicates that it contains an intramolecular hydrogen bond. This intramolecular hydrogen bond may be due to the presence of a chelate ring on one of its nitrogen atoms. N,N'-Dimethylethanediamine can also form a hydrogen bond with chloride ions or nitrogen atoms in other molecules.
