Moxidectin ist eine semi-synthetische makrocyclische Lacton, die zur Klasse der Verbindungen gehört, die als Avermectine bekannt sind, die aus der Fermentation des Bakteriums Streptomyces avermitilis gewonnen werden. Moxidectin

Moxidectin is a milbemycin derivative that belongs to the class of macrocyclic lactones. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat infections caused by Diptera larvae, such as the sheep blowfly, Lucilia sericata. Moxidectin has been shown to be an effective drug against c. glabrata, which is resistant to ivermectin and other drugs. Moxidectin binds to P-glycoprotein substrate site 1 and prevents drug efflux from cells by competing with other substrates for binding sites on the transporter. This inhibition of drug efflux may be due to its ability to block P-glycoprotein function or act as a direct inhibitor of ATPase activity. The analytical method used in this study was high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
