Dimethylamin ist eine farblose, brennbare Flüssigkeit mit einem starken fischigen Geruch, die als tertiäre Amin klassifiziert ist. Seine chemische Formel ist C2H7N und es weist zwei Methylgruppen auf, die an ein Stickstoffatom gebunden sind. Dimethylamin ist hoch wasserlöslich und in polaren organischen Lösungsmitteln, was es zu einer vielseitigen Verbindung in verschiedenen chemischen Anwendungen macht.
