3-Iodopropionic acid is a polymer that can be conjugated with proteins such as albumin. It is currently being investigated for its potential use as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). 3-Iodopropionic acid has been shown to form herringbone structures in the presence of sodium carbonate, which may allow it to be used as a contrast agent for MRI.
