Dihydrotestosteron (DHT) ist ein potentes androgenes Steroid und ein Derivat von Testosteron, das durch seine Rolle bei der Entwicklung männlicher Merkmale und reproduktiver Funktionen gekennzeichnet ist. Es wird aus Testosteron durch die Wirkung des Enzyms 5-alpha-Reduktase synthetisiert. DHT ist entscheidend für die Entwicklung der männlichen äußeren Geschlechtsorgane während des embryonalen Wachstums und spielt eine bedeutende Rolle beim Haarwachstum, der Prostatagesundheit und der Libido bei erwachsenen Männern. Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen that is used in hormone replacement therapy to treat conditions such as testosterone deficiency, delayed puberty, and impotence. It is also used to treat breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. Dihydrotestosterone binds to the androgen receptor, which alters the expression of genes by altering their nucleotide sequences.
