L-Phenylalanin ist eine essentielle Aminosäure, die eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Proteinsynthese spielt und ein Vorläufer für mehrere wichtige Biomoleküle ist, einschließlich Neurotransmittern wie Dopamin, Noradrenalin und Adrenalin. Sie wird als unpolare, aromatische Aminosäure klassifiziert, aufgrund ihrer Phenylgruppe, die zu ihren hydrophoben Eigenschaften beiträgt. L-Phenylalanin existiert in zwei enantiomeren Formen, wobei die L-Form biologisch aktiv und vom Körper genutzt wird.
