Imipenem-Monohydrat ist ein Breitband-Beta-Lactam-Antibiotikum aus der Klasse der Carbapeneme, das hauptsächlich zur Behandlung schwerer bakterieller Infektionen eingesetzt wird. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Fähigkeit aus, die Synthese der bakteriellen Zellwand zu hemmen, was es gegen eine Vielzahl von grampositiven und gramnegativen Bakterien wirksam macht, einschließlich solcher, die gegen andere Antibiotika resistent sind.
