Beschreibung:
Isobuttersäure, auch bekannt als 2-Methylpropansäure, ist eine verzweigte Carbonsäure, die durch ihre charakteristische Struktur gekennzeichnet ist, die eine Carboxylgruppe (-COOH) enthält, die an eine Kohlenstoffkette mit einer Methylgruppe gebunden ist. Es ist eine farblose Flüssigkeit mit einem stechenden Geruch, der an ranzige Butter erinnert. Isobuttersäure ist in Wasser und organischen Lösungsmitteln löslich, was es vielseitig in verschiedenen Anwendungen macht. Seine chemische Formel ist C4H8O2, und es hat einen relativ niedrigen Siedepunkt im Vergleich zu anderen Carbonsäuren. Diese Verbindung wird in der Herstellung von Estern für Aromen und Düfte sowie in der Synthese von Arzneimitteln und Agrochemikalien verwendet. Isobuttersäure kann auch durch Fermentationsprozesse hergestellt werden, was seine Relevanz in der Biochemie hervorhebt.
