Fosinopril-Natrium ist ein Angiotensin-Converting-Enzym (ACE)-Hemmer, der hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Bluthochdruck und Herzinsuffizienz eingesetzt wird. Es handelt sich um ein Prodrug, das im Körper in seine aktive Form, Fosinoprilat, umgewandelt wird, das das ACE-Enzym hemmt, was zu einer verringerten Produktion von Angiotensin II, einem starken Vasokonstriktor, führt. Dies führt zu einer Vasodilatation, einem gesenkten Blutdruck und einer verringerten Arbeitsbelastung des Herzens. Fosinopril-Natrium zeichnet sich durch seine einzigartige Struktur aus, die eine phosphinische Säuregruppe umfasst, die zu seinem Wirkmechanismus beiträgt.
