Beschreibung:
Poly(methylmethacrylat) (PMMA), mit der CAS-Nummer 9011-14-7, ist ein synthetisches Polymer, das aus der Polymerisation von Methacrylat-Monomeren gewonnen wird. Es ist ein transparenter Thermoplast, der für seine hervorragende optische Klarheit, UV-Beständigkeit und Wetterbeständigkeit bekannt ist, was es zu einer beliebten Alternative zu Glas in verschiedenen Anwendungen macht. PMMA zeigt eine gute mechanische Festigkeit und Steifigkeit sowie eine geringe Dichte, die zu seinem leichten Charakter beiträgt. Es zeichnet sich auch durch seine einfache Verarbeitung aus, die verschiedene Fertigungstechniken wie Gießen, Extrusion und Spritzguss ermöglicht. PMMA ist gegenüber vielen Chemikalien beständig, kann jedoch anfällig für bestimmte Lösungsmittel und Spannungsrisse sein. Darüber hinaus hat es eine relativ hohe thermische Stabilität, kann jedoch bei erhöhten Temperaturen erweichen. Aufgrund seiner Eigenschaften wird PMMA in Anwendungen eingesetzt, die von Linsen und Bildschirmen bis hin zu medizinischen Geräten und Beschilderungen reichen. Seine Biokompatibilität macht es auch für bestimmte biomedizinische Anwendungen geeignet, einschließlich Zahnprothesen und Implantate.
