    CAS:

    NS 11021 is a drug that inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is the driving force for ATP synthesis. It can be used to treat bowel disease and cardiac diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. NS 11021 also has a pharmacological effect on channels that open in response to an increase in cytosolic calcium levels. This includes atrial and activated potassium channels, which are important for the propagation of action potentials in the heart. NS 11021 can also be used to treat experimental models of ischemia–reperfusion injury due to its ability to inhibit energy metabolism.
