Beschreibung

(1R,2R)-(-)-2-Amino-1-phenyl-1,3-propanediol is a chiral amino alcohol that can be used as a catalyst to catalyze the formation of aryl ketones. The reaction proceeds via an enantioselective addition of the amine to the carbonyl group in the presence of base. This reaction is also applicable to nucleosides, which are important in DNA replication and RNA transcription. Experiments have shown that (1R,2R)-(-)-2-Amino-1-phenyl-1,3-propanediol catalyzes bond formation between ribosome components and peptide bonds during protein synthesis.
