Citric acid monohydrate is an organic compound that is used in biochemical research. It can be converted to citrate, which is a potential drug for chronic coughs. It has been shown to bind to toll-like receptor 4 and 5 (TLR4 and TLR5), reducing the activation of these receptors. Citric acid monohydrate also has a high rate constant, which makes it a good candidate for use in control analysis. This compound has been shown to have disease-modifying properties by altering iron homeostasis and ameliorating symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease.
