Beschreibung

Glycerol tristearate is a bioactive phytochemical that belongs to the class of esters. It is a calcium stearate, biocompatible polymer that has been shown to form particles in the size range of 100-500 nm. The particle size and morphology can be modified by changing the amount of glycerol used during synthesis. Glycerol tristearate also has an acyl chain with hydroxy group at one end and a polymeric matrix at the other end. This polymer has been shown to have sodium hydroxide solution uptake, which is important for use as a drug delivery system. Glycerol tristearate can be synthesized from glycol ethers and fatty acids or from sodium taurocholate and reaction intermediates.
