Isoamyl gallate is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in ether, chloroform, and benzene. Isoamyl gallate also inhibits the growth of mycobacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of cell wall components such as peptidoglycan and lipopolysaccharide.
