CAS:Tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)silane is a ligand that has been shown to bind to the active site of the nuclear transcription factor NF-κB, preventing it from binding to DNA. Tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)silane also has an affinity for inflammatory cytokines and can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)silane was found to be effective in reducing infarction size when administered after myocardial infarction in rats. The crystal structure of tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)silane was determined by x-ray crystallography, showing that it is a semiconducting material with lanthanide properties.
