2-Amino-N-butyl-5-phenyl-3-thiophenecarboxamide (2ABTT) is a lipoxygenase inhibitor that is active against soybean lipoxygenase. It has been shown to inhibit the production of fatty acids and inhibit tumor growth in mice, and therefore may be useful in cancer treatments. 2ABTT inhibits the activity of the enzyme lipoxygenase and prevents the formation of arachidonic acid, which can lead to inflammation. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. 2ABTT has been shown to be effective against chronic bronchitis in rats.
