Tert-butyl methyl sulfoxide is an organic compound that is used as a catalyst in the stereoselective synthesis of sulfoxides. This compound is commercially available as a solution in tert-butanol. Tert-butyl methyl sulfoxide is also used for the oxidation of alkenes to produce peroxides and thiols.
