K 134 is a benzimidazole derivative that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of muscle cell proliferation. K 134 inhibits the activity of fatty acid synthase and prevents the synthesis of eicosanoids, which are important mediators of inflammation. The inhibition of fatty acid synthase by K 134 may be due to its ability to bind to the active site and competitively inhibit the binding of acetyl-CoA. K 134 also has a dry weight-increasing effect on gastrocnemius muscle cells in rats, which is due to its ability to inhibit protein degradation as well as stimulate protein synthesis. K 134 has been shown to be effective against P. aeruginosa in a primary analysis and in vitro experiments, but it is not yet known whether this drug will be effective for humans.
