Descripción:

Diazinón es un compuesto organofosforado utilizado principalmente como insecticida y acaricida en aplicaciones agrícolas. Se caracteriza por su capacidad para inhibir la acetilcolinesterasa, una enzima crítica para el correcto funcionamiento del sistema nervioso en los insectos, lo que lleva a su parálisis y muerte. Diazinón es típicamente un líquido incoloro a amarillo pálido con un olor tenue y es soluble en disolventes orgánicos, pero tiene una solubilidad limitada en agua. Diazinon is a sulfamoyl chloride pesticide that inhibits the activity of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acetylcholine and butyrylcholine. Diazinon is used in wastewater treatment because it inhibits the growth of bacteria that break down organic matter. Diazinon has also been shown to have synergistic effects with estradiol benzoate, an estrogenic agent that is used to treat prostate cancer. The IUPAC name for diazinon is O,O-diethyl O-(1-methylpropyl) phosphorothioate.
