CAS:TLR4-IN-C34 is a biologic that inhibits TLR4, which is a receptor for lipopolysaccharide (LPS). LPS is a component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria and plays an important role in the inflammatory response. TLR4-IN-C34 has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in human cells, as well as reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. This drug also inhibits HIV infection by inhibiting the expression of viral proteins. The mechanism of action for TLR4-IN-C34 is not fully understood, but it may involve binding to the TLR4 receptor and preventing LPS from binding to this protein, or inhibiting the production of pro-apoptotic proteins.
