Ácido abiético es un compuesto orgánico que ocurre de forma natural, clasificado como un ácido resínico, derivado principalmente de las resinas de los pinos. Abietic acid is a natural compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It is a p-glycoprotein inhibitor, which prevents the efflux of organic compounds from cells. Abietic acid is also an antimicrobial agent and has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth through its antimicrobial peptide activity. This compound has been shown to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus pyogenes.
