5-Iodo-2'-desoxiuridina (IDU) es un análogo de nucleósido de la timidina, caracterizado por la presencia de un átomo de yodo en la posición 5 del anillo de pirimidina. Se utiliza principalmente en la investigación antiviral y como un posible agente terapéutico en el tratamiento del cáncer debido a su capacidad para interferir con la síntesis de ADN. El IDU es un polvo cristalino blanco a blanco sucio que es soluble en agua y presenta un perfil de estabilidad moderado en condiciones fisiológicas.
