Descripción:
Clorhidrato de desipramina es un antidepresivo tricíclico que se utiliza principalmente en el tratamiento del trastorno depresivo mayor y ciertos trastornos de ansiedad. Funciona inhibiendo la recaptación de norepinefrina y, en menor medida, de serotonina, aumentando así los niveles de estos neurotransmisores en la hendidura sináptica. Este mecanismo contribuye a sus efectos antidepresivos. La sustancia aparece como un polvo cristalino blanco a blanco amarillento y es soluble en agua, lo que la hace adecuada para la administración oral en forma de tabletas o como solución inyectable. Clorhidrato de desipramina tiene una vida media relativamente larga, lo que permite una dosificación una vez al día en muchos casos.
