Descripción: Dimetoato es un insecticida y acaricida organofosforado ampliamente utilizado en la agricultura para controlar una variedad de plagas. Se caracteriza por su acción sistémica, lo que le permite ser absorbido por las plantas y proporcionar protección contra los insectos que se alimentan de ellas. Dimetoato es típicamente un líquido incoloro a amarillo pálido con un olor tenue, y es soluble en disolventes orgánicos pero tiene una solubilidad limitada en agua. La estructura química presenta un grupo de fosfato dimetílico, que es responsable de su actividad biológica. Actúa inhibiendo la enzima acetilcolinesterasa, lo que lleva a la acumulación de acetilcolina en el sistema nervioso de las plagas, lo que resulta en su muerte.
