Descripción:
Oxitetraciclina es un antibiótico de amplio espectro que pertenece a la clase de las tetraciclinas, utilizado principalmente para tratar diversas infecciones bacterianas en humanos y animales. Se caracteriza por su capacidad para inhibir la síntesis de proteínas en las bacterias al unirse a la subunidad ribosomal 30S, impidiendo así el crecimiento y la reproducción de los microorganismos. El compuesto se presenta típicamente como un polvo cristalino amarillento, que es soluble en agua y exhibe un perfil de solubilidad dependiente del pH. Oxitetraciclina es efectivo contra una amplia gama de bacterias Gram-positivas y Gram-negativas, así como algunos protozoos. Su estructura química presenta un núcleo de naftaceno con múltiples grupos funcionales hidroxilo y ceto, lo que contribuye a su actividad antibacteriana. Además, se ha utilizado en diversas formulaciones, incluidas aplicaciones orales, inyectables y tópicas.
