Applications (3β)-3-O-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl-cholest-5-ene-3,24-diol is a reactant used in the preparation of series of cholesterol side-chain analogs used in studies of the ω-regiospecificity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis cholesterol metabolizing cytochrome P 450 enzymes. It is used in the preparation of (25S)-Δ7-dafachronic acid, (25S)-Δ4-dafachronic acid, (25S)-dafachronic acid, and (25S)-cholestenoic acid.
