Descripción:

El sorbitán, tri-(9Z)-9-octadecanoato, derivados de poli(óxido-1,2-etileno), comúnmente conocidos como polisorbatos, son surfactantes no iónicos ampliamente utilizados en formulaciones alimentarias, farmacéuticas y cosméticas. Este compuesto se caracteriza por sus propiedades emulsionantes, lo que le permite estabilizar mezclas de aceite y agua. Se deriva del sorbitán, un alcohol de azúcar, y ácidos grasos, específicamente ácido oleico en este caso, lo que contribuye a sus características hidrofóbicas. La porción de poli(óxido-1,2-etileno) indica la presencia de cadenas de polietileno glicol (PEG), mejorando su solubilidad en agua y mejorando sus capacidades emulsionantes. Estos surfactantes son conocidos por su baja toxicidad y generalmente se reconocen como seguros (GRAS) para su uso en productos alimenticios. Exhiben una variedad de valores de HLB (Balance Hidrofílico-Lipofílico), lo que los hace versátiles para diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo como estabilizadores en emulsiones, dispersantes y solubilizantes. Tween 85 is a surface active agent that can be used to remove particulates from the air. It is a synthetic, non-ionic surfactant composed of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide. This product has been shown to inhibit particle aggregation in vitro studies. Tween 85 has also been shown to reduce bronchiolitis obliterans in mice when administered by inhalation. Tween 85 may also be useful for removal of water-soluble drugs from wastewater treatment systems and as a chitosan quaternary ammonium detergent additive.
