The product of this reaction is hydrogenated to form 4-amino-N-(tert-butyl)-N'-(chloromethyl)benzamide. This compound can also be prepared by refluxing a mixture of 4-aminobenzaldehyde and hydrazine with chloroform and hydrochloric acid.
